Phil started lecturing in 1983 having qualified with Coopers & Lybrand in Sheffield. He spent many years with Financial Training before joining Mercia in 2001. He continues to lecture extensively on law, auditing, tax and accounts of companies and charities both to the accounting profession and to those in industry and commerce.

Phil is married to Cheryl, and they have three children, Rebecca, Michael and Stephen. In his spare time, Phil (a qualified football coach) runs a local U12 team, helps with the running of the local swimming club, chairs the village playing fields association committee and assists with deanery and diocesan finances - as well as acting as taxi-driver to his children!
