Mark Morton BA ATII ATT

Born in 1968, Mark Morton is a senior tax lecturer for Mercia. His career began in 1989, when he started training with the HMRC in Derby 2 Tax District. Mark's intensive education over the years covered areas such as Corporation Tax, Income Tax, PAYE and benefits legislation. In 1996 Mark was made Deputy District Inspector for the Derby area.

During his time as an Inspector, Mark had many key responsibilities, including managing and working on a complex allocation of corporate cases for both national and international groups, as well as liasing with specialists of the HMRC's compliance department and Customs & Excise. Mark was appointed Head of Tax at Mercia in 2004.

An expert in his field, Mark is a recognised public speaker, giving presentations concerning recent developments in tax law and procedure, through to advising local firms on all areas of tax planning and investigation work, which requires detailed professional knowledge. He is also a member of the ICAEW Tax Faculty's Employer Taxes and NIC sub-committee.

With many achievements throughout his career ranging from successfully managing a tax district of more than 100 people, and having articles published in the Society's journal, Mark is an excellent spokesperson, who has extensive experience in the industry to provoke a thoughtful insight into a complex subject.
